Murder Charge Filed for Billiards Shooting Suspect

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, Wilshire Homicide Unit is investigating the murder of 55 year-old Sang Bae Shin and 46 year-old Gi Hyuk Ro.
On Thursday, July 8, 2004, at approximately 3:30 p.m., both victims were inside "Nice-Q-Billiards" at 3388 West 8th Street. Gi Hyuk Ro was the former owner of "Nice-Q-Billiards." An individual identified as 44 year-old Bae Hyuk Shin, current owner of "Nice-Q-Billiards," was also present. At some point, Bae Shin pulled out a handgun and shot both victims. Gi Hyuk Ro collapsed inside the location and Sang Bae Shin fled the location only to collapse outside. When officers arrived, they discovered the victims and Bae Shin. It is unknown at this time if the gunshot wound to Bae Shin was self-inflicted and the investigation is still on going.
Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and All three were transported to local hospitals. Sang Shin and Gi Ro died from their injuries and Bae Shin survived.
During the investigation a handgun was recovered along with additional evidence. It was also discovered that there had been some type of dispute between Bae Shin and Gi Hyuk Ro in the past.
On Wednesday, July 14, 2004, the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office filed 2 counts of murder against Mr. Bae Shin. Mr. Bae Shin will be transferred to the Los Angeles County Jail Ward at USC Medical Center in the near future, pending approval from the hospital where Bae Shin is currently hospitalized.
