Dispute Leads to Homicide

Los Angeles: On Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Devonshire Area patrol officers responded to citizen reports of shots fired in the 8400 block of Langdon Avenue, in North Hills. Responding officers located a wounded thirty-six year old male Black in the carport of the apartment complex. The gunshot victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Within moments of the Langdon Avenue incident, a second radio call was generated relative to a gunshot victim found at a gas station on Roscoe Boulevard and Haskell Avenue, less than a mile from the original shooting incident. The victim, a twenty-year-old male Black, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Preliminary witness information established that both victims received their injuries in a mutual shootout that occurred within the confines of the Langdon Avenue apartment complex. The mutual shooting appears to be the result of a dispute, the nature of which remains under investigation.

The identities of the decedent and the wounded man are not being released pending notification of relatives of both men.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Devonshire Area Homicide Unit at 818-756-8291, or after hours, the Devonshire Area Watch Commander at 818-756-8285.

This press release was prepared by Media Relation Section at 213-485-3586.
