On Saturday, July 16th, more than 80 students and 45 parents will receive graduation certificates to declare their completion of the 77th Street Area Juvenile Impact “Boot Camp” program.

The 77th Street Area Juvenile Impact Program is a military style “boot camp” for kids.  A cadre of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Officers assume the role of drill instructors and provide instruction in ceremonies and protocol, physical training, and military style drill.  In addition, teachers from the Los Angeles Unified School District provide training to the students and their parents in anger management, and life and communication skills.  The goal of this important program is to correct and prevent negative and criminal behavior for at-risk youth and to instill discipline, self-esteem and respect for others.
