Homicide Investigation in Arleta

Los Angeles: 24-year-old Hispanic Man was found dead with a gunshot wound in the chest.

On Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at about 11:00 PM, Foothill Area patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the 13200 block of Branford Street, in the Arleta area.  The officers discovered the victim lying in the street with apparent gunshot wound.   The victim was taken to a local hospital by Los angeles Fire Department Paramedics where he died a short time later.

The preliminary investigation revealed witnesses observed the victim walking in the area shortly before they heard a gunshot and then observed the victim lying in the street.  After the shooting, a suspect, described only as a Hispanic man, was seen running to a waiting vehicle. 

The motive for the shooting is unknown.  The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to his family.
