Man Shot Outside Party

Los Angeles:  Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating the gang-related shooting death of Joey Minjares, a 31 year old male Hispanic. 

On Sunday, July 24, 2005, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Minjares arrived at a party on the 4300 block of Portola Drive, in the City of Los Angeles.  Shortly after he got out of the car, Minjares approached the suspect and they had a conversation.  The suspect produced a pistol and shot the victim in the upper torso.  The victim ran to a nearby residence and called for help.

Los Angeles City Fire Rescue Ambulance No. 47 responded to the location and transported the victim to USC Medical Center where he died from his injuries. 

The suspect is only described as a male Hispanic.
