Los Angeles:  77th Street Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting incident that led to the death of 24-year-old Benjamin David Rayford of Los Angeles that occurred in the 8200 block of South San Pedro Street.

On Monday, July 25, 2005, at about 6:20 p.m., a gunman walked up to the victim and shot him in the chest with an unknown type handgun.  The gunman then got into a silver mid-size car and fled the scene.

The motive is unknown.

The gunman was described as a African-American.
