Road Rage Suspect Arrested

Los Angeles: A woman was arrested Wednesday for felony assault with a deadly weapon (ADW), following an incident that occurred Monday in the San Fernando Valley.

On July 10, 2006, at 11:35 AM, Julia Lunney-Rowland, 40, of Van Nuys, was driving in the 15200 block of Vanowen Street, in Van Nuys, when she struck a parked car. She pulled her car behind the damaged car and walked away. Soon thereafter, the car’s owner, a pregnant woman, returned and noticed evidence of the collision. When Lunney-Rowland came back, the pregnant woman confronted her.

Lunney-Rowland denied any involvement in the collision. She got in her car, backed up, and drove intentionally toward the victim. The woman, 8 months pregnant, was thrown onto the hood of Lunny-Rowland’s car and fell to the pavement.

Bystanders told officers that Lunney-Rowland sped away in a 2006 silver Saturn Ion. Using the license number provided by witnesses, officers determined that the Saturn was registered to Lunney-Rowland. She was later identified by the victim and a witness.

The victim sustained minor injuries. She was held for observation at a local hospital and later released. Her unborn child was not harmed.

Lunney-Rowland was hospitalized for an unrelated illness the evening following the incident. On July 12, 2006, she was released from the hospital, then taken into LAPD custody and booked for assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Van Nuys Detective Sherri Stanley at 818-374-0040. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855).
