Man Shot to Death, One Suspect in Custody

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help with information on the shooting death of 26 year old, Miguel Amezcua.

Friday, July 22, 2006, around 11:45 p.m., Amezcua was attending a party with some friends in the 1000 block of McFarland Avenue. Sometime during the evening, Amezcua got into a fight with multiple suspects. One of the suspects produced an unknown type handgun and shot Amezcua multiple times. Amezcua was struck in the head and chest and died at the scene. The suspects left the area in a possible white, 4 door, Honda.

Based on information provided by witnesses, detectives were able to identify the juvenile suspect and arrested him at his home. His identity is being with held due to his age. The other two suspects, described only as male Hispanics, are still outstanding.

Anyone with information is asked to call Harbor Homicide Detectives at 310-522-2036. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855). Those who would like to remain anonymous are encouraged to call.
