Man Shot and Killed in Gang Shooting
Los Angeles: A 24-year-old man was shot and killed while walking on Western Avenue at Romaine Street.
On Monday, July 16, 2007, at about 9 PM, the victim, later identified as Jose Angel Ventura of Los Angeles, was found by officers on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. The officers had responded for a shooting call at the location. Paramedics pronounced Ventura dead at the scene.
According to witnesses, two young men were seen running from the shooting scene and they were described as Hispanics, 14-17 years of age.
The motive for the shooting is unknown but it appears gang related.
