Reward Offered in Connection with Man Killed by Gunfire in South L.A. NR12298rf

Los Angeles:  Today, LAPD Criminal Gang Homicide Division detectives held a press conference to announce a $50,000 reward in connection with the shooting death of Los Angeles resident Steven Kelly.  Detectives are hoping for the public’s help in providing information that would lead to the identification and arrest of suspect(s) responsible for his murder.

On July 10, 2010, around 9 p.m., officers responded to a shooting call near the intersection of 109th Place and Willowbrook Avenue in South Los Angeles.  When officers arrived, they discovered Kelly suffering from gunshot wounds and lying on the sidewalk in the 1700 block of East 109th Place where he had been walking eastbound from Willowbrook Avenue.  Detectives believe the  suspect(s) pulled to the curb in a grey or white-colored compact vehicle and fired several rounds at the victim from the southeast corner of 109th Place and Willowbrook Avenue and then immediately left the area in their vehicle.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Kelly dead. The motive for the killing remains unknown.
