SWAT Blood Drive at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

July 15, 2016

WHAT: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) will spearhead a blood drive at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

WHEN: Friday, July 15, 2016 9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Children’s Hospital Los Angeles – Blood Bank 4650 Sunset Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90027

WHO: LAPD Special Weapons and Tactics Officers LAPD Metropolitan Division Officers

WHY: In response to a significant need as well as in support of a fellow SWAT supervisor’s daughter, members of the SWAT team and Metro have partnered with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to kick off an important blood drive. The eldest daughter of one of our SWAT supervisors will soon undergo major surgery, which prompted a quick response to provide both support and address a vital community need. According to hospital staff, having an ample supply of blood on hand is one less thing that the medical staff and families need to worry about.

SWAT team members will visit with some of the patients to present them with honorary team member certificates for their courage, strength, and hope for a speedy recovery as they battle life-threatening illnesses (the eagle and lightning bolt on the LAPD SWAT logo represents courage and swiftness).
