Attempt Murder Suspect Arrested

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, June 7, 1999

On Monday, May 24, 1999, a female juvenile was shot inside a residence located in the area of 54th Street and Vermont Avenue in the City of Los Angeles. She sustained one gunshot wound to her stomach and remains hospitalized.

The suspect has been identified as David Smith who was arrested on Friday, June 4, 1999.

Smith is scheduled for arraignment on June 7, 1999 in Los Angeles Municipal Court, Division 30 Los Angeles Criminal Courts Building. District Attorney filed one count of attempted murder and one count of use of firearm in commission of a crime causing great bodily injury. If convicted, Smith could receive two consecutive life term sentences.

77th Street Homicide Detectives Potter and Villalobos are handling the investigation.
