Gang Related Shooting Claims One Life

On Sunday evening, June 27, 1999 at approximately 8:04 p.m., the victim, Alejandro Rivera, a male, Hispanic, 21 years old, was standing in front of an apartment building in the 1400 block of West 227th Street. A 1985 to 1995, dark colored Honda vehicle approached and stopped in front of the location. The passenger suspect used an assault rifle to fire at the victim, however the victim was not struck. The victim fled on foot, running northbound along an adjacent walkway. The passenger suspect pursued the victim on foot and shot him multiple times. The suspects fled the scene driving westbound on 227th Street.

Paramedics were called to the location and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The motive for the crime appears to be gang related. The murder weapon and the suspects are outstanding.

Suspect #1: male, Hispanic, 18/22 years old (shooter)

Suspect #2: male, Hispanic, No Further Description, (driver)
