Police Arrest Naked Burglary Suspect

On Thursday, June 10, 1999 at approximately 11:50 p.m., a man and his wife were asleep in their bedroom at their residence in the 13100 block of Albers Street, in Van Nuys. The male resident awoke to some unknown noise and observed a male, completely nude, standing over his wife, who was lying next to him in bed. The male confronted the suspect who fled downstairs and left the house by jumping through a plate glass window.
Officers responding to an alarm call in the area of Coldwater Canyon Boulevard and Chandler Boulevard observed a male completely nude running down the street. With the help of neighbors, who responded to the screams of the male victim, the officers were able to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was positively identified as the same suspect that had broken into the victim's home.
The suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he received medical treated.
The suspect has been identified as 19 year old Christopher Aaron Ames of Laguna. Mr. Ames was transported to and booked at Van Nuys Jail for 459 P.C. Residential Burglary. His bail has been set at $30,000.
