LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Wednesday, June 7, 2000

"Suspects Sought in Takeover Robbery"

Los Angeles - On May 30, 2000, at approximately 8:15 P.M., an armed robbery occurred on the 8200 block of south Normandie Avenue, at the 99 Cent Plus store. The suspects were described as two male Hispanics, both armed with unknown type caliber handguns. The suspects entered the business and ordered the employees to empty the cash register and lay down on the floor. While the robbery was in progress, a customer entered the store and was also ordered to lay on the floor, at which time he was robbed. During the course of the robbery, one of the suspects picked up a pair of scissors from the counter area and stabbed the store clerk. The suspects took the money and cell phones and fled the location on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

The Detectives were able to get a surveillance tape of the incident and are asking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects in this case. A copy of the video is available for the Press at LAPD Media Relations Section.

Anyone with information regarding this case may contact Robbery Detective Leman Potter or Officer Dorian Henry, 77th Operations Support Division at 213-485-4175. Phone calls after hours may be directed to the Detective Headquarters Division at 213-485-2505.
