Monday, June 26, 2000

"Victim Killed by His Roommate"

North Hollywood: On June 26, 2000, at about 11:54 a.m., an unidentified male called the North Hollywood Station. He stated he had just killed his roommate by strangling him. The man stated that the victim "was suffering" and the male caller couldn't stand to see it go on any longer. The caller was told police were enroute and he hung up.

A short time later, North Hollywood patrol officers arrived on the scene and found victim John Richard Gluck, male, 73 years of age, deceased. The officers contacted the victim's roommate, 62 year old Kenneth David Zanchi, who stated he was the one who called police. He made additional spontaneous statements concerning the death of John Gluck, his roommate of 40 years. Gluck was reportedly suffering from various heart ailments, but it is not yet known if he was considered a "terminal patient" at the time of his death.

Zanchi was arrested and booked for Murder at the Valley Jail Division in Van Nuys.

The North Hollywood Homicide Unit is investigating this death as a criminal homicide.
