"Drive-By Shooting Kills One Man and Wounds Another"

Los Angeles- On June 17, 2000 at approximately 11:45 P.M., Victim Reginald Howard, 35 years of age, was standing with Victim James Dunn, age 37, in the 100 block of E. 65th Street. An unknown type vehicle with two male Black suspects drove past the location and fired several shots with an unknown type of handgun. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Martin Luther King Drew Medical Center.

Victim Reginald Howard was treated for a gunshot wound to the head and died on June 20, 2000 as a result of his injuries. Victim James Dunn was treated for multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach and remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

The motive for the shooting is possibly gang related, and the suspects remain outstanding.

Newton Operations Support Division, Homicide Detectives, is handling the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Stanley Evans at 213-846-6556.
