Victim Shot During Celebration

Tuesday, June 20, 2000



"Victim Shot During Celebration"

Los Angeles: On Monday, June 19,2000, during the late evening hours, victim Chloe J. Baker, 18 years of age was in the company of friends celebrating the Lakers victory of the NBA Championship. They were driving their vehicle in the area of 48Th Street and Crenshaw Blvd. with Baker and one other person half inside and half outside the vehicle sitting in the open vehicle windows. Shots were heard by witnesses and Baker and her friend were struck by gunshots. The driver of the vehicle drove immediately to a nearby hospital. Baker succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The second victim is hospitalized and expected to survive. The identity of the second victim is not available for release. The motive for this incident is unknown.

The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the assistance of the community and anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Southwest Division Homicide Detectives Brent Josephson and Lorenzo Barbosa at 213-485-2417.
