Shooting Investigation in Wilshire Area

 

Los Angeles - On Saturday, June 16, 2001 at approximately 5:23 a.m., Wilshire Area patrol officers responded to the scene of an "ADW/Ambulance, Shots Fired" call in the 1600 block of South 3rd Avenue. Upon their arrival, they found the victim, described as a male Hispanic, 45-50 years of age, down on the ground, bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds.

Based upon evidence at the scene, it appeared that the victim had been riding a bicycle northbound in the 1600 block of South 3rd Avenue at the time of the shooting. The victim was transported to Cedar Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:10 a.m.

The motive for this assault is unknown at this time, no suspects have been identified and the victim's identity is also unknown at this time. The weapon is an unknown type of firearm and is outstanding.

The investigation is continuing and being handled by the Wilshire Homicide Unit, 213-473-0444, primary investigators assigned are Detectives Holroyd and Chavez.
