Thirty One Year Old Killed by Hit and Run Driver in Newton Division

"Thirty One Year Old Killed by Hit and Run Driver in Newton Division"

 

Los Angeles: On Friday, June 22, 2001, at approximately 11:00P.M., an unknown male Black was driving a [possible] burgundy colored Buick Regal northbound on Hooper Avenue, when he collided with 31 year-old, Miguel Pascual Matias. Matias was walking westbound across Hooper Avenue between 47th Street and 48th Street. Matias was launched onto the hood of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and identify himself, or render aid to Matias, who sustained extensive blunt force trauma to his upper extremities.

Matias was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The driver and the vehicle are still outstanding.
