"Murder Suspect Arrested; His Sister Arrested for Accessory"

Los Angeles: On Friday, May 31, 2002, at 10:25 p.m., Joseph Elias, a 25-year old resident of San Fernando was shot to death in the 12700 block of Bromont Avenue in Sylmar. The suspect was later identified as Cesar Escobedo, a 22-year old Palmdale resident.

On Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Foothill Area patrol officers and detectives responded to a call of a "murder suspect there now" in the 11900 block of Kathyann Street in Lakeview Terrace. The officers arrested Cesar Escobedo as he was trying to flee the scene while hidden in the trunk of a vehicle driven by his sister, Ana Escobedo. Cesar Escobedo was arrested and booked for the murder of Joseph Elias and Ana Escobedo was also arrested and booked for being an accessory to murder.
