Sobriety Checkpoint Operation

What:
The Los Angeles Police Department, South Traffic Division will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint.

When:
Friday, June 21, 2002, between 6:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M.

Where:
Avalon Boulevard, between L Street and M Street

Los Angeles: Beginning on Friday, June 21, 2002, between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 1:00 A.M. of the following morning, South Traffic Division will be conducting a Sobriety Checkpoint Operation in Harbor Area. The checkpoint will be conducted on the northbound lanes of Avalon Boulevard, between L Street and M Street.

A sobriety checkpoint is one of several enforcement tools used to reduce injuries, death, and property damage caused by intoxicated drivers. The checkpoint operation on June 21, 2002 will involve sixteen police officers and two sergeants. Sergeant Roy Van Duyne will be the Officer-in-Charge of the operation.
