"Gang Shooting Leaves One Dead And One Injured"

 

Los Angeles: On Saturday, June 22, 2002, at approximately 11:30 p.m., 77th Area patrol officers responded to a "shots fired" radio call located in the 9800 block South Hass Avenue. Upon arrival, witnesses stated that unknown suspects drove up in a brown compact vehicle and fired numerous rounds. Victim Steven Erick Gray, a male Black , 35 years of age sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and victim Theodore Moncrief, male Black, 37 years of age, sustained a single gunshot wound to his foot.

On Saturday, June 22, 2002, at approximately 11:30 p.m., 77 Areapatrol officers responded to a "shots fired" radio call located in the 9800 block South Hass Avenue. Upon arrival, witnesses stated that unknown suspects drove up in a brown compact vehicle and fired numerous rounds. Victim Steven Erick Gray, a male Black , 35 years of age sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso and victim Theodore Moncrief, male Black, 37 years of age, sustained a single gunshot wound to his foot.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics transported both victims to a local hospital where victim Gray was pronounced dead on arrival and victim Moncrief was treated and released.

This shooting appears to be gang-related. The suspects were last seen northbound Hass Avenue towards 96th Street.
