LAPD Officers Witness Execution Style Killing

"LAPD Officers Witness Execution Style Killing"

Los Angeles: On June 4, 2003, at 2:10 p.m., 33 year-old Londell Murdock, a Black male and his friend had just left a store in the 1100 block of west Vernon Avenue. As the two men were walking to their car, a gunman identified as 22 year-old Lewis Shaw, a Black male, approached them and yelled gang epithets. Shaw then pointed a gun at the victims and began firing. Both victims tried to run away. Murdock was hit by the bullets and killed. Murdock’s friend was not hit by the gunfire. As Shaw ran from the crime scene, he shot two Hispanic women standing on the porch of their home. Shaw then jumped into a white car that was being driven by an additional suspect identified as 24-year old Kevin Jordan, a Black male.

As this crime was being committed, LAPD patrol officers Jose Herrera and Dale Lopez, were patrolling in the area when they heard gunshots. As the officers got closer to the scene, they saw Shaw shooting at the victim, then run and get into the white car that was being driven by Jordan. The suspects did not stop for the officers. After a short pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle hit a tree. Both Shaw and Jordan got out of the car and ran from the officers. The officers chased and captured both Shaw and Jordan.

The women who were shot were taken to a local hospital by Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics. They are listed in stable condition.

Shaw and Jordan, arrested for murder, are being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
