Bicyclist and Jogger Struck with Pellets

Los Angeles: On June 18, 2003, at about 5:45 p.m., 59 year-old Gene Gleeson, a local television newscaster, was riding a bicycle southbound on Griffith Park Drive near Crystal Springs Drive when he heard a bang and felt sharp pain in his back. Mr. Gleeson attempted to follow the suspect's car but the suspect(s) sped away. At about the same time, a 47 year-old female was jogging in the bike lane northbound on Griffith Park Drive, heard a pop sound and felt pain on the right side of her chest area.

Both Mr. Gleeson and the female victim were transported to Glendale Memorial Medical Center for treatment. It appears both victims were struck with pellets fired from unknown suspect(s).

Possible suspect(s) were driving a 1990's Toyota Camry, 4-door, green in color.

Both Mr. Gleeson and the female victim were treated for minor puncture wounds and bruises and were released from the hospital.

According to medical staff at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, several weeks ago, a woman came to the Emergency Room with a pellet in her arm. The woman said she was shot in the arm while walking in Griffith Park.
