Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department, Central Traffic Division (CTD) will be holding a news conference to inform the public of the dangers involved in the unlawful use of motorized scooters and mini-bikes on the street of Los Angeles.
Recently, there has been an increase in traffic stops and citations of juveniles and adults illegally riding motor-driven cycles and scooters on city streets. Through these traffic stops, officers have noticed a pattern of misinformation by salespersons and dealers to consumers. Unscrupulous dealers are assuring consumers their product as being "street legal" when in reality they are not.
CTD will provide safe and correct information regarding the legal operation of motor-driven cycles and scooters. Impounded vehicles will be on display.
Central Traffic Officer Ronnie Fisher is coordinating the news conference.
Officer Fisher can be reached at 213-485-1034.
This news advisory was prepared by Public Information Officer Eduardo Funes, Media Relation Section, at 213-485-3586.
