Burbank Police Investigation In Los Angeles Results In An Officer Involved Shooting

"Burbank Police Investigation In Los Angeles Results In An Officer Involved Shooting"

Los Angeles: On Friday, June 25, 2004, at about 10:30 p.m., Burbank Police detectives were conducting a narcotics investigation in an alley near Oxnard Street and Coldwater Canyon Avenue in North Hollywood Area. The detectives attempted to talk to a man, who was later identified as 25 year old Assif Deri, a resident of North Hollywood. Deri accelerated his vehicle toward one of the detectives who was on foot, striking his leg. Both detectives fired their service weapons and wounded the suspect.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and treated Deri for his injuries, but he failed to respond to treatment and died as the result of his wounds. The detective who was injured by the suspect’s car was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Robbery-Homicide Division is conducting the investigation.

Anyone with information that may help in this investigation is urged to contact the Detective Information Desk number, at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-569-3855).
