Fatal DUI Traffic Accident Investigation

Los Angeles: Early this morning, a man who was under the influence, was involved in a traffic collision, which resulted in the death of his passenger.

On June 18, 2005, at about 6:40 AM, 27-year-old Jorge Solorio was driving northbound on Island street in a 2002 Ford Mustang and failed to stop for a posted stop sign. Solorio collided with a Ford truck travelling westbound on D Street. The impact between the Ford truck and the Mustang caused the Ford truck to overturn.

Paramedics transported all involved parties to the collision to a local hospital. Solorio was treated for blunt force trauma to his head and body and is listed in critical condition. Solorio's passenger, a Hispanic man, received massive trauma to his entire body and died from his injuries at the hospital.

The name of the passenger is being withheld pending notification to his family members.

The driver of the Ford truck only received minor injuries to his entire body.

Solorio, upon recovering, could face charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.

Persons with information about this incident may call Detective Williams, South Traffic Division at 323-290-6063. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hours toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFUL (1-877-529-3855).
