Officer Injured at Davis Academy
Los Angeles: A Los Angeles police officer sustained minor injuries at the shooting range after another officer's weapon fired accidentally.
On May 19, 2006, at about 3:30 p.m., Officer William Romanelli, an 11-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, had just completed qualifying on the range.
Officer Romanelli reloaded his weapon at the designated loading barrel. When he holstered his gun, one round fired into the pavement. A bullet fragment struck another officer's arm.
The officer was treated with stitches at a local hospital and released.
Force Investigation Division is handling the investigation.
