Two Pedestrian Hit and Killed by Car

Los Angeles: Two unrelated traffic collisions, that occurred within 6 hours of each other, claimed the lives of two pedestrians in the last day.

The first traffic collisions occurred on June 17, 2007, at about 8:40 PM, on Pacific Coast Highway north of Chautauqua Boulevard.

A 2000 Mercedes Benz, southbound Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), collided with a female pedestrian, crossing PCH just north of Chautauqua Boulevard.

It was determined that the driver of the car, a Marina Del Rey resident was not under the influence of alcohol or any other substance. The detectives made no arrest pending further investigation.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.

The second traffic collision occurred on June 18, 2007, at about 1:50 AM, on Sunset Boulevard west of Detroit Street. A 1993 Saturn, traveling eastbound Sunset Boulevard, collided into a pedestrian crossing Sunset Boulevard, west of the unmarked crosswalk.

The unidentified male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, David Brian Sosna, 42, was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence of an alcoholic beverage. He was booked for Vehicular Manslaughter, DUI, Without Gross Negligence.
