Gang Gunfire Kills 15-Year-Old
Los Angeles: A 15-year-old was shot and killed as he was walking with his friends in South Los Angeles.
On June 14, 2007, just after 3:00 PM, 15-year-old Dovan Harris and a group of his friends were walking home from the bus stop at 114th Street and Central Avenue. An unknown type SUV drove by and one of the occupants began shooting in the direction of the group. Dovan was struck once by the gunfire and collapsed on the sidewalk. The suspects' vehicle continued northbound on Central Avenue.
Responding paramedics transported Dovan to an area hospital. Dovan remained in critical condition overnight and died the next day as a result of gunshot wounds.
The suspects' vehicle was only described as a brown SUV.
The motive for the shooting is gang related.
***UPDATE***
On June 20, 2007, detectives arrested a 17-year-old male and booked him for the murder of Dovon Harris. He is being held without bail.
