Los Angeles Man Killed Crossing the Street NR10325cj

Los Angeles:  A driver collides with a man crossing the street and leaves the scene killing 39-year-old Tyrone L. Jones. The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) South Traffic Division detectives need the public’s help in providing information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect.
   
On Saturday, June 26, 2010, at around 10:30 p.m., LAPD South Traffic Officers responded to a call of a traffic collision in the area of Broadway and 91st Street.  Once the officers arrived they observed a man lying on the ground unresponsive.

Los Angeles City Fire Department and paramedic personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Tyrone Jones dead.   

Investigators say that a motorist was driving southbound on Broadway Street toward 91st Street when the suspect’s vehicle struck Jones who was walking across the street Eastbound on Broadway.  The motorist continued driving failing to stop and render aid.

The suspect was driving a green Chevy Lumina with a California license plate of 6COW072.  

The suspect’s car was later found and taken into police custody.

The driver of the Chevy is still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.
