WHY:
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) are hosting the 4th Annual LAPD & LAFD Safe Summer Tip-off Basketball Game and Festival on Figueroa. A FREE community event, scheduled this Saturday, June 29, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Departments are aiming to bring youth together from neighborhoods throughout the Southern California and City of Los Angeles regions in a positive and exciting environment.
This year’s event will include an outdoor festival themed “Festival on Figueroa” providing the attendees an opportunity to learn about bullying, teen dating violence, emergency preparedness, beach and pool safety, sports & academic enrichment summer school programs, bicycle & pedestrian safety, proper child seat installation and other summer safety resources.
Featured at the event will be a spirited basketball game between 3-time defending Safe Summer Tip-off Champions, LAPD and the team from the Los Angeles Fire Department. The 4th annual event will be hosted by Mr. Arsenio Hall. Attendees will also be able to take photographs and receive autographs from celebrity guests, participate in interactive games, enjoy live entertainment, win prizes and be treated to a FREE barbecued lunch.
