Fatal Hit and Run with Pedestrian NR16184jh

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic Division detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the identification of the suspect involved in a hit and run collision which left 65-year-old Joseph C Haywood injured at scene.

On May 31, 2016, around 10:10 p.m, Joseph C. Haywood was walking westbound across the crosswalk on 63rd Street and Crenshaw Boulevard when he was struck by a possible black Honda sedan traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and render aid to the victim, or identify themselves, as required by law.

The Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he later died from his massive traumatic injuries.

There is no driver description.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
