was born in Hawthorne, California, and raised in Los Angeles
County. He received his Bachelor's degree from Long Beach State
University. He joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1987, as
a second generation Los Angeles Police Officer. His father, Bruce
Blake, retired as a Sergeant, in 1992, from the Van Nuys
Division.

Commander Blake began his career at the 77th Street Division as a
patrol officer and has since worked in every Bureau in the City.
He was promoted to the rank of Field Training Officer in 1990.
While assigned to Operations-West Bureau CRASH he worked in a gang
suppression role as well as a Detective Trainee. In 1994, he was
promoted to the rank of Detective and worked investigative
assignments such as Domestic Violence, Crimes Against Children,
Narcotics, Sex Crimes, and Homicide. In 1997, he was promoted to
the rank of Sergeant. In 1999, he was promoted to Sergeant II and
worked Internal Affairs Group, in the Advocate Section, as well as
in an undercover capacity in the Special Operations Section. In
2001, he was promoted to Lieutenant and worked as a watch commander
prior to returning to Internal Affairs Group as the Officer in
Charge of the Criminal Investigative Section. In 2005, Commander
Blake was selected be the adjutant to Director of the Office of
Operations. In September of 2006, he was promoted to the rank of
Captain and was assigned to Southeast Area as the Patrol Commanding
Officer. In June of 2007, he was transferred and assigned as the
Patrol Commanding Officer of Southwest Area. After his commanding
officer position in Southwest Patrol Division, Commander Blake was
promoted to Captain III, assuming the position of Area Commanding
Officer of West Los Angeles Area. In January 2008, Commander Blake
was selected to open and command the new 20th Los Angeles Police
Station, Olympic Division. In June 2011, he was assigned as the
Assistant Commanding Officer, Operations-West Bureau and designated
to be promoted to Commander upon next vacancy. In November 2011,
Commander Blake was promoted to Commander and selected to fill the
position as the Assistant to the Director, Office of
Operations.

Commander Blake is married and is the proud father of four
children.
