was born in Santa Monica, California, and raised in Fresno,
California, where he attended San Joaquin Memorial High School.
Peters earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a Minor
Degree in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in Los
Angeles, California, and a Masters of Arts Degree in Organizational
Leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
Additionally, Peters is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory
Leadership Institute and a Peace Officers Standards and Training
(POST) certified instructor.

Captain Peters joined the Department in 1987, and worked as a
police officer at Newton Area, Southeast Area, South Bureau
Narcotics, and Training Division. He was promoted to Detective in
April 1994, and was assigned to Central Bureau Narcotics, Major
Violators Section, Narcotics Division, and West Valley

In 1996, Captain Peters was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where
he served at Rampart Area, Van Nuys Area as the Officer-In-Charge
of the North Hills Task Force, Internal Affairs Group, and as the
Aide to the Commanding Officer of Advanced Planning Group. In this
position, Peters performed a dual role planning and coordinating
the Department's hosting of the 2004 International Associate of
Chiefs of Police Annual Conference. For his efforts, Peters was
awarded the Los Angeles Police Commission's Distinguished Service
Medal and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's
Distinguished Service Medal. Peters concluded his time as a
Sergeant while assigned to the Firearms Training Unit of Training

Peters was promoted to Lieutenant in 2005, and worked as a watch
commander at both Devonshire and Pacific Areas. In 2006, Peters was
selected to the elite Metropolitan Division where he served as the
Officer-In-Charge of the Mounted Platoon and as the Assistant
Officer-In-Charge of SWAT.

Captain Peters has been married for over 19 years and is the proud
father of six children. He is active in his church and is a youth
sports coach. In his spare time, Peters enjoys participating in
fitness related activities.
