Captain Arturo Sandoval was
Gang and Narcotics Division
born and raised in Los Angeles. He attended high school at Don
Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, California. After high
school he enrolled at San Diego State University. He went on to
graduate from National University, receiving a Bachelors of Science
Degree in Computer Science.
Sandoval was appointed to the Los Angeles Police Department on
December 4, 1989. He worked a variety of assignments and Divisions
as a police officer, which included Newton Division, Wilshire
Division, Central Traffic Division and Hollywood Division. His
experience included patrol, gangs, vice, and traffic. In 1994, he
was promoted to a detective trainee in Wilshire Division. As a
detective, Sandoval worked homicide, gangs, sexual assault,
burglary and major assault crimes.
In 1997 Sandoval was promoted to sergeant. His supervisory
assignments included Southeast and Northeast Division. His
experience included patrol, administrative operations, adjutant and
assistant watch commander.
In 2007, Sandoval was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to
Southwest Area as a watch commander. As a Lieutenant, Sandoval
held the position of Officer-in-Charge at Internal Audits and
Inspections Division, Olympic Area Gang Impact Team and Force
Investigation Division. Sandoval was promoted to Captain on
October 6, 2013, and appointed as the Rampart Division Patrol
Captain Sandoval is married to a fellow police officer. He has two
daughters and one granddaughter.
