Commander William A. Fierro has twenty-six years of law enforcement experience, with extensive supervisory and management background.
In April 2003, he was assigned as the Commanding Officer of the Hollenbeck Community Police Station to command a sizeable division of police officers, detectives and civilian employees.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain I in October of 1996 and assigned to Hollywood Area. He was subsequently assigned as the Commanding Officer for Operations-Support Division, Pacific Area. Following this assignment, Captain Fierro was designated as the Commanding Officer of Detective Headquarters Division. He oversaw the command of a large group of sworn and civilian personnel who are responsible for a variety of functions such as threat management, court liaison, missing persons investigation, mental health, firearms control and enforcement, and detective information.
Prior to his assignment as Captain, he was Officer-in-Charge, Recruit Training Section, Officer-in-Charge Tactics Training Section and Adjutant-Office of Operations. He worked in the capacity of Sergeant, Senior Lead Officer, and Watch Commander in seven different patrol divisions.
Captain Fierro was a West Point Instructor for the West Point Leadership Program and is a past Board Member for the Hispanic Law Enforcement Administrators (HLEA). Captain Fierro received his Bachelor of Arts and Master's Degree in Public Administration from Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles.
Captain Fierro was on the board of the American Youth Soccer Organization and serves as a coach for youth sports (basketball, baseball and soccer). He participates in a Department basketball team and plays golf to support fund raising activities for police memorials.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Captain Fierro has a dedication and commitment to the citizens and businesses that make up this diverse city. In Hollenbeck, which is a largely Hispanic and low-income community beset with serious public safety issues, he brings this commitment and his experience in community policing to stabilize, improve and move the community forward.
