Commander William A. Fierro has thirty-four years of law enforcement experience, with an extensive supervisory and management background. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Commander Fierro has a dedication and commitment to the citizens and businesses that make up this diverse city.
In May of 2007, Commander Fierro was assigned as the Assistant to the Director, Office of Administrative Services. In this capacity, Commander Fierro is responsible for the command of the Work Environment Liaison Section (WELS) otherwise known as the Ombuds Office, the Officer Representation Unit, the Employee Assistance Unit, and Facilities Management Division.
Commander Fierro has served in a variety of Command Staff positions. In October of 1996 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to Hollywood Area. He was subsequently assigned as the Commanding Officer for Hollenbeck Area and for Operations Support Division of Pacific Area. Following this assignment, Commander Fierro was the Commanding Officer of Detective Headquarters Division where he oversaw the command of a large number of sworn and civilian personnel who were responsible for a variety of functions such as threat management, court liaison, missing persons investigation, mental health, firearms control and enforcement, and detective information.
Prior to his assignment as Captain, he was the Officer-in-Charge of the Recruit Training Section and the Tactics Training Section. He was also the Adjutant to the Commanding Officer of the Office of Operations. He worked as a Sergeant, Senior Lead Officer, and Watch Commander in seven different patrol divisions.
Commander Fierro was an instructor for the West Point Leadership Program and was a board member for the Hispanic Law Enforcement Administrators (HLEA). Commander Fierro received his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles.
Commander Fierro was on the board of the American Youth Soccer Organization and serves as a coach for youth sports (basketball, baseball, and soccer). He has been a member of the Department basketball team and plays golf to support fund raising activities for police memorials.
