Victim Dies After Jumping From Moving Vehicle on the Hollywood Freeway

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

Tuesday, March 2, 1999

On Sunday, February 28, 1999, at approximately 10:28 P.M. officers responded to a 911 call at the northbound Hollywood Freeway, between Franklin Avenue and Gower Avenue.

Upon their arrival, the body of a 32 year old female Hispanic was observed in the number two lane of the freeway. The victim's boyfriend, a 30 year old male Hispanic, was subsequently located nearby. He stated that the victim was despondent over their recent breakup and jumped from his moving vehicle, which was traveling at approximately 65 MPH.

Witnesses, including an off-duty L.A.P.D. officer, contacted 911 and are in the process of being interviewed. The status of the case is undetermined pending further investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives from the Hollywood Community Police Station are conducting the investigation and encourage any persons who may have witnessed the incident to contact Detectives Lloyd Parry or Vicki Bynum, Hollywood Homicide Unit at 213-485-6410.
