Family Friend Kidnaps Baby

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Monday, March 6, 2000

Hollywood - On Monday, March 6, 2000, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Hollywood officers responded to a possible kidnapping in the 5400 block of Harold Way. Upon arrival the officers were met by Sandy Vega. Ms. Vega informed the officers that at approximately 1:30 p.m., she had gone to the store with a friend known only as "Skittles." Ms. Vega had left her 6-month-old daughter at home with another friend, Chamberlain Cotton. Ms. Vega lost contact with Skittles at the store and returned home at approximately 2:15 p.m. and found that her daughter and Chamberlain Cotton were gone.

It is believed at this point that Chamberlain Cotton has absconded with the child for unknown reasons and may be in the company of Cari Ann Gleason, also known as "Skittles."

Chamberlain Cotton is described as a female, White, reddish hair, brown eyes, 5-8, 155 pounds, and 21 years of age. She has a possible tattoo of winnie the pooh on her left thigh. She was last seen wearing a pink blouse and blue jeans.

Cari Ann Gleason is described as a female, White, 5-4, thin build, with corn rows in her hair, 18 years of age. She was last seen wearing a blue sweat jacket with hood, black jeans, white shirt and canary yellow shoes.

The victim is Johnny Michelle Vega, 6 months old, last seen wearing a green top with diapers.
