Cargo Theft Press Release

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

Friday, March 24, 2000


On March 23, 2000, at 9 P.M., the Cargo Theft/Hijack Unit of the Burglary-Auto Theft Division received an anonymous phone call that suspects were at this moment at warehouse located at 719 W. 152nd St and unloading Pirelli tires from 48 foot trailer into a U-Haul truck. Detectives responded and observed Carlos Casian and two other males at the location. The investigation revealed that Casian was the receiver of the stolen tires. The tires were stolen from the City of Long Beach on March 15, 2000. The approximate value of the stolen tires was $100,000.00.

Two males were detained, questioned, and released. Casian was booked for receiving stolen property and his bail is set at $60,000.

Detectives Zavala and Rivera of the Unit are in charge of the investigation.
