Man Dies in Construction Accident

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, March 30, 2000

"Man Dies in Construction Accident"

Encino - On Thursday, March 30, 2000, at approximately 12:00 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department, West Valley Area, responded to a possible death investigation at 4501 El Caballero Drive, in Encino. Responding officers discovered a 49 year old male Hispanic, who had expired at the scene. Initial indications are that the deceased was working in a trench in the rear yard of the residence when the hillside collapsed upon him. Co-workers frantically dug away the soil, however the man had apparently suffocated while buried. Paramedics responded and pronounced him dead at the scene. The Coroner's office, Los Angeles City Building & Safety, CAL OSHA and the District Attorney's office have all been notified. The D.A.'s office is handling the investigation.

The decedent's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
