Shooting Death Investigation

 

Los Angeles - On Saturday, March 10, 2001, at approximately 11:55 p.m., Darthaynan Salone, age 27, was seated in the back seat of a Lincoln Navigator in the parking lot of 5325 South Broadway. Unknown suspect(s) pulled up next to the vehicle in an unknown make pick-up truck and fired several rounds at the victim's vehicle, fatally injuring him with one gunshot to the head.

The suspect(s) fled the location in their vehicle. The driver of the victim's vehicle drove from the location seeking medical attention for the victim. He drove to Alameda Avenue and Commercial Street, where he observed a police unit and pulled over for help.

The victim was with two of his brothers at the time of the incident, all are from Tennessee and had just arrived in the area approximately one hour prior to the shooting.

The motive is unknown and no suspects have been identified.
