Newton CLEAR Candlelight Vigil

 

What:
Newton Clear Candlelight Vigil

When:
Tuesday, March 27, 2001
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Where:
Augustus Hawkins State Park,
Located at the corner of Slauson Avenue and Compton Boulevard

Who:
Newton Community Law Enforcement and Recovery Detail, (CLEAR)

Los Angeles - The vigil will focus on educating the community regarding gang violence and preventive measures. Local clergy members will discuss their involvement and provide spiritual guidance. The Office of Council member Rita Walters will provide the small flashlights for the event. The CLEAR Detail will be present, as well as, agencies of the Los Angeles Police Department, L.A. District Attorney's Office, L.A. City Attorney's Office, L.A. County Probation Department and the California State Parole Department.

The goal of the Newton CLEAR Detail is to reach the community regarding gang intervention and to continue building a better partnership.
