In 1998 the voters of Los Angeles approved "Proposition
2" which authorized the sale of general obligation bonds for the
construction, expansion, and renovation of police facilities. The land
development of the North Valley Police Station, which will be the LAPD's 19th
Community Police Station, is also a result of Proposition 2.
The addition of the North Valley Community Police Station
will allow the Department to improve services provided not only to the
immediate area, but also throughout Operations-Valley Bureau. The creation
of the North Valley Community Station will allow the Department to reduce
the coverage area of the other 5 stations in Operations-Valley Bureau. It is
anticipated that this reduction will result in a decrease in officer
response times for call for service throughout the San Fernando Valley
The North Valley Police Station will be a 54,000 square feet
facility. It was designed to support the Department's Community-Based
Policing efforts. In addition to housing the Area's Patrol and Operations
Support Divisions, the facility will include a 1500 square feet Community
Room, an explorer scout room, and work-space for police volunteers and
boosters.
The public is invited to attend the Groundbreaking Ceremony.
