LAPD Officers Capture Dangerous Fugitive
Los Angeles: On Saturday, March 9, 2002, at approximately 10:00 p.m., 77th Street Area police officers Robert Bermudez and Jason Curtis, while on routine patrol, received a radio call, "Dangerous Fugitive Suspect Reported at Location."
Responding to a residence on the 700 block of East 84th Place, Officers Bermudez and Curtis approached the front of the home and spoke to a male who was standing in the doorway. The officers asked the male if he lived in the house and if he could provide them with identification. Noting inconsistencies in his identity statements, the male then offered his Social Security number.
The number, provided by the male, matched the Social Security number of the fugitive wanted for sexual assault in the City of New Orleans.
Confronted with this information, the male admitted his name actually was Alcee Brown, and that he was aware of a warrant for his arrest. The officers took Brown into custody without incident and he was booked on a fugitive warrant charge without bail. After extradition proceedings are completed, Brown will be returned to Louisiana where he faces sexual assault charges.
Anyone with further information should contact the Los Angeles Police Department, Fugitive Warrant Section at 213-473-7400. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
