Man Shot and Killed in Car, Parked in Front of Residence

"Man Shot and Killed in Car, Parked in Front of Residence"

Los Angeles: On March 11, 2002, at approximately 7:50 p.m., 20 year-old Los Angeles resident Ruben Atilano, was sitting in his parked vehicle in the driveway of his residence located on the 500 block of North Brittania Street.

Two unidentified Hispanic males approached his vehicle, fatally shot Atilano, and then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics responded to the location and pronounced Atilano dead at the scene. The shooting, according to detectives, was apparently gang related.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Hollenbeck Area Homicide Detectives at 323-526-3111. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL, 1-877-529-3855.

This press release was prepared by Police Officer Jack Richter, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
