Man Held On 18 year-old Murder

Los Angeles: Robbery-Homicide Division personnel are continuing to offer investigative support to Nassau County Police Department personnel who are investigating the murder of an 11 year-old girl that occurred in July 1984 in Long Island, New York.

Manuel Pacheco, age 33, was a suspect in the murder of Angela Wong, whose body was found near her home in Massapequa, on Long Island’s south shore. On March 20, 2002, Robbery-Homicide Division detectives arrested Mr. Pacheco for 288 (A) PC, (Lewd Act With a Child), for an unrelated incident that occurred in the San Fernando Valley in 1999.

On March 21, 2002, Nassau County Police Department personnel served an arrest warrant on Mr. Pacheco for the murder of Angela Wong.

The investigation of the Los Angeles crime is continuing. New York authorities are currently seeking the extradition of Mr. Pacheco to New York.

The Nassau County Police Department may be contacted for information regarding the murder investigation.

This press release was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
