"Argument Escalates into Shooting, Leaving One Dead"

 

Los Angeles: On Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 12:14 am, Devonshire Area Patrol Officers responded to a radio call regarding a shooting in the10400 block of McClennan Avenue, in Granada Hills. Responding officers observed the body of a male lying in the roadway, the victim of apparent multiple gunshot wounds. Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Devonshire Area Homicide detectives responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that a birthday party had been held at the residence in front of which the victim was shot. Moments prior to the shooting, the victim engaged in an argument with another celebrant. Immediately following the exchange another male, armed with an unknown type firearm, shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown type vehicle. The identity of the suspect remains unknown and there have been no arrests in the case.

The victim was identified as Roy Brian Marino, a nineteen year-old resident of Whittier. The specific motive for the slaying remains under investigation.
