Officers See Robbery in Progress, Arrest Four Suspects

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department, Van Nuys Robbery Detectives are investigating an Armed Robbery that was witnessed by LAPD patrol officers.

On Thursday, March 6, 2003, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Los Angeles Police Department Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), was in the area of Vanowen Street and Woodman Avenue, conducting crime suppression activities related to street and business robberies involving gang members.

The specialized unit of officers, watching from a discreet location, observed three suspects enter a nearby convenience store. It was not the first time the officers had seen these men, as they were spotted the night before loitering at another store. Seen once again in the same gold Honda Accord, the officers witnessed the three men rob the store at gunpoint, and then flee in the Honda Accord, driven away by an awaiting driver.

The officers, in their vehicles, chased after the armed robbers. Stopping their vehicle in a residential neighborhood, the suspects exited their car and ran between the houses. The officers immediately apprehended the driver. The remaining three suspects at large were later caught inside a canine searched police perimeter. Inside the getaway vehicle, the officers also recovered a loaded handgun that was used during the course of the robbery.

All four suspects; 19 year-old Logan Anderson, 19 year-old Keavin Cass, 21 year-old Gary Mitchell, and 19 year-old Joshua Robinson were arrested for Armed Robbery with bail set at $105,000 each.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Van Nuys Robbery Unit at 818-756-8731. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
